Taoufik Makhloufi

Taoufik Makhloufi is an Algerian athlete who specialises in middle-distance running. Born on 29 April 1988, he became the 1500 metres Olympic champion at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he took silver medals in both the 800 metres and the 1500 metres. Earlier in his career he won the 800 metres at the 2011 All-Africa Games and at the 2012 African Championships, and he has represented Algeria three times at the World Championships in Athletics. His personal bests are 1:42.61 for the 800 metres, set at the 2016 Olympics, and 3:28.75 for the 1500 metres. He trains with the club GS Petroliers.
