Takemiya Masaki is a Japanese professional Go player born January 1, 1951, in Tokyo, ranked 9 dan and affiliated with the Nihon Ki-in. He became known as a teenager for defeating top rated players, earning the nickname 9 dan killer, and is renowned for his distinctive cosmic style of play, which favored building a large moyo, or framework of influence, in the center of the board rather than fighting for territory early. Beyond Go, he also won Japan's premier backgammon tournament, and he has published four books in English on Go strategy.
