Sven Kramer is a Dutch speed skater born April 23, 1986, in Heerenveen, widely regarded as one of the greatest long distance speed skaters in history. He has competed at four Winter Olympics, from 2006 to 2018, winning multiple gold medals in the 5000 and 10000 meter events and the team pursuit, and has won numerous World Championship and World Cup titles across a career spanning more than a decade at the top of the sport. His 2010 Vancouver 10000 meters gold was controversially stripped after a coaching error sent him into the wrong lane, a moment that became one of the most discussed incidents in Olympic speed skating history.
