Steve Nash, born Stephen John Nash on 7 February 1974, is a Canadian former professional basketball player and coach who played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He was an eight-time All-Star, a seven-time All-NBA selection and a two-time league Most Valuable Player, winning the award in 2005 and 2006 with the Phoenix Suns after earlier years with Phoenix and the Dallas Mavericks. After a college career at Santa Clara University in California he was drafted fifteenth overall in 1996. He ranks among the league leaders in career assists, free-throw shooting and three-point shooting, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018, and served as general manager of the Canadian men's national team.
