Steve Bloomer (1874 to 1938) was an England international footballer and later a manager who played for Derby County, where he became the record goalscorer, and for Middlesbrough. He was a quick thinking forward who shot powerfully and accurately with either foot, and his speciality was the daisy cutter, a low and fast shot. In 535 First Division games he scored 314 goals, the second highest top flight total after Jimmy Greaves, and he scored 28 goals in 23 England appearances. He won the Second Division with Derby in 1911 to 1912 and played in three FA Cup finals. He also played baseball for Derby and helped it become British champions three times in the 1890s. As a coach he worked in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain and won the 1924 Copa del Rey with Real Unión. He is listed in the Football League 100 Legends and the English Football Hall of Fame.
