Sonja Henie was a Norwegian figure skater and later a film star who was one of the most successful competitors in the sports history. She was a three time Olympic champion in womens singles, a ten time World champion between 1927 and 1936, and a six time European champion between 1931 and 1936, winning more Olympic and World titles than any other female figure skater. She is one of only two skaters to successfully defend an Olympic singles title, a feat later matched by Katarina Witt.
