Sileshi Sihine

Track and Field Disciplines

Sileshi Sihine is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competed at the Summer Olympic Games in the men's 10,000 metres. Olympedia gives his birth as 9 May 1983 in Sheno in the Oromiya region, while noting that the date is uncertain because several official sources give different days in 1983, and it lists his affiliation as the Prison Service. He stood 168 centimetres tall and weighed 58 kilograms. He won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at both the 2004 and the 2008 Summer Olympics, which gives him two Olympic silver medals and no gold or bronze. His personal best in the event, set in 2004, was 26 minutes 39.69 seconds. He also medalled at the World Athletics Championships, with silver medals in the 5000 and 10,000 metres in 2005 and in the 10,000 metres in 2007. Olympedia lists him as the husband of Tirunesh Dibaba and the brother-in-law of Ejegayehu Dibaba and Genzebe Dibaba.
