Shani Davis

Shani Earl Davis is an American former long-track speed skater, born in 1982 in Chicago, Illinois, who won Olympic gold in the 1000 meters at both the 2006 Turin and 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, becoming the first man to successfully defend the event's Olympic title, and won two Olympic silver medals in the 1500 meters at the same Games. He was World Allround Champion in 2005 and 2006 and World Sprint Champion in 2009, won six World Single Distance Championship titles, and became only the second male skater after Eric Heiden to win both the World Allround and World Sprint titles. He set nine world records during his career and held the top position on the Adelskalender all-time speed skating rankings for more than a decade before retiring in 2019.
