Sebastian Coe

Sebastian Coe is a British former middle-distance runner who won Olympic gold medals in the 1500 meters at both the 1980 Moscow and 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He held world records in the 800 meters, 1500 meters and mile at various points during his career and was known for a fierce rivalry with fellow British runners Steve Ovett and Steve Cram through the early 1980s. After retiring from competition he became a member of the British Parliament and later president of World Athletics, the sport's global governing body.
