Samir Nasri is a French former professional footballer, born on 26 June 1987 in Marseille, who played mainly as an attacking midfielder and a winger and was sometimes used in central midfield. He was known for his dribbling, ball control and passing, and his style and cultural background drew comparisons with Zinedine Zidane. He came through the youth academy of Olympique de Marseille, made his professional debut in 2004 and then joined Arsenal in 2008 and Manchester City in 2011, winning the Premier League with City in 2011 to 2012 and again later, along with the Football League Cup in 2014. He won 41 caps for France, played at UEFA Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, and served an eighteen month suspension for a doping violation that ended in January 2019.
