Ryan Steven Lochte is an American competitive swimmer born August 3, 1984, in Rochester, New York, who holds twelve Olympic medals, six gold, three silver and three bronze, making him the third most decorated swimmer in Olympic history behind only Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky. His Olympic gold medals include the 200 meter backstroke in 2008, the 400 meter individual medley in 2012 and four editions of the 4x200 meter freestyle relay from 2004 to 2016. He won 39 world championship titles across long and short course competition, still holds the long course 4x200 meter freestyle relay world record, and was named FINA Swimmer of the Year three times.
