Sir Russell Coutts is a New Zealand sailor born in 1962 in Wellington. He won gold in the Finn class at the 1984 Summer Olympics and went on to skipper three America's Cup victories, in 1995, 2000 and 2003. As chief executive of the Oracle Team he also led the organization to two further America's Cup wins, in 2010 and 2013, though those races were helmed by James Spithill. His career spans match racing, offshore racing and one-design sailing across several decades of international competition.
