Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, mononymously known as Ronaldo and nicknamed O Fenomeno and R9, is a Brazilian former professional footballer, born in 1976, who played as a striker for Cruzeiro, PSV, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Corinthians before retiring in 2011. He was named FIFA World Player of the Year three times and won two Ballon d'Or awards, becoming the youngest recipient of each honor at the time, and by age 23 had scored more than 200 goals for club and country before a series of knee injuries sidelined him for nearly three years. He won the 2002-03 La Liga title with Real Madrid, scored 62 goals in 98 matches for Brazil to rank third on the country's all time scoring list, and set a world record transfer fee twice, joining Barcelona in 1996 and Inter Milan in 1997.
