Roger Clemens

Bat-and-Ball Sports

Roger Clemens, nicknamed "Rocket", is an American former professional baseball pitcher who spent 24 seasons in Major League Baseball, most notably with the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, and also with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Houston Astros. He was one of the most dominant pitchers in the history of the major leagues, finishing with 354 wins, a 3.12 earned run average and 4,672 strikeouts, the third-most of all time. Clemens won seven Cy Young Awards, more than any other pitcher, took two World Series titles and was an 11-time All-Star. In 1986 he won the American League Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award and struck out a record 20 batters in one game. He later faced allegations of steroid use from the Mitchell Report, was tried on perjury charges and was found not guilty in 2012, though the controversy cost him election to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
