Ricardo Juan Antonio Saprissa Aymá, born 24 June 1901 and died 16 August 1990, was a lifelong athlete, coach and promoter of sports. After being raised in El Salvador, he spent many years in Costa Rica, playing and coaching football. In 1935 he was a co-founder of Deportivo Saprissa, a highly successful football team based in San Juan de Tibás. He also represented Spain at the 1924 Summer Olympics, so his sporting life touched at least three countries named in the lead: El Salvador, Costa Rica and Spain.
