Football Codes

Phelim A. Murray, born in Knockcroghery, County Roscommon, in 1922 and died on 25 May 2005, was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder for the Roscommon senior team. He was introduced to Gaelic football during his schooling at Roscommon CBS, and as a two-time Connacht medallist he also enjoyed All-Ireland successes at inter-provincial level. At club level he first lined out as a minor with St Patrick's and in a distinguished career won six championship medals. He made his inter-county debut with the Roscommon minor team and was an All-Ireland medallist in that grade, later claiming an All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute with the junior team before joining the senior team. He went on to play a key role for Roscommon during a hugely successful era and won two All-Ireland medals.
