Peter Canavan is a former Gaelic football player widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards in the sport's history, who captained County Tyrone to its first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title in 2003. Playing for Tyrone across more than two decades, he was renowned for his skill, vision and free-taking ability despite his relatively small stature for the position. He was named Gaelic football's Footballer of the Year and is widely credited with helping establish Tyrone as one of the sport's dominant county teams of the 2000s.
