Paul O'Connor was an Irish hurler who lived from 1963 until his death on 20 September 2012 and played as a midfielder for the Cork senior team. He joined the Cork panel during the 1986 championship and became a regular player over the following three seasons, during which he failed to claim any honours. He hurled for Cork between 1987 and 1990 but was deprived of an All-Ireland medal after suffering a serious knee injury just months before the famous double of the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire Cups. He is identified here as the Cork hurler to tell him apart from other people of the same name.
