Paul Elvstrøm was a Danish competitive sailor who won four Olympic gold medals between 1948 and 1960 across the Firefly and Finn classes, and thirteen world championship titles across multiple boat classes. He founded the sailmaking company Elvstrøm Sails, was named Danish Sportsman of the Century in 1996, and was inducted into the ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame in 2007.
