Paddy Ruschitzko, known as Rusty, was an American-born Irish hurler who lived from 1917 until his death on 4 March 2004. He played hurling with his local club Clonad and at senior level for the Laois county team from the 1930s until the 1950s, and he captained Laois in their last All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final appearance in 1949. A contemporary, Bill Maher of Rathdowney, hailed his team mate as one of the greats and a true Laois legend.
