Ozzie Smith

Osborne Earl "Ozzie" Smith is an American former professional baseball player, born on December 26, 1954, and nicknamed "the Wizard of Oz". He played shortstop in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres and then the St. Louis Cardinals, joining the Cardinals in a 1982 trade and helping them win the 1982 World Series. He was renowned for acrobatic defense, winning the National League Gold Glove Award at shortstop for 13 consecutive seasons, and he was a 15-time All-Star with 2,460 hits and 580 stolen bases. He won the Silver Slugger Award at shortstop in 1987, retired after the 1996 season with his number 1 retired by the Cardinals, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002, his first year of eligibility.
