Otake Hideo is a retired Japanese professional Go player, born May 12, 1942, in Kitakyushu, who joined the noted Kitani Minoru school of Go at the age of nine and turned professional in 1956 at fourteen. He reached the 9 dan rank in 1970 and, across a career that lasted until his retirement in 2021, won forty four titles, including the Meijin title four times, the Judan title five times and the Gosei title seven times, finishing with an overall record of 1,319 wins, 846 losses, five draws and one no result. He ranks fourth in total number of titles won in Japanese Go history and was awarded Japan's Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in 2015.
