Oscar Figueroa

Oscar Figueroa is a Colombian former Olympic weightlifter born April 27, 1983, in Zaragoza, Colombia, who competed in the 62 kilogram category until 2018 and the 67 kilogram category afterward. He won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, both in the 62 kilogram division, lifting a winning total of 318 kilograms in Rio. He also won a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships in Santo Domingo and bronze medals at the 2013 World Championships in Wroclaw and the 2015 World Championships in Houston, all in the 62 kilogram category. He briefly retired after the 2016 Olympics before returning to international competition, overcoming cervical and lumbar hernia injuries along the way, and formally announced his retirement from the sport in November 2019.
