Norman Stephen Taber (3 September 1891 to 15 July 1952) was an American middle distance runner. He was the first amateur runner to surpass Walter George's professional record in the mile, a mark that had stood for nearly thirty years. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm he won a bronze medal over 1500 metres and a gold medal in the team 3000 metres event. The mile record was a professional benchmark that no amateur had beaten before him.
