Niki Lauda was an Austrian Formula One driver and motorsport executive who won three World Drivers' Championships, in 1975, 1977 and 1984, and is the only driver to win championships with both Ferrari and McLaren. He won 25 Grand Prix races across thirteen seasons and holds the record for the longest gap between championship titles, seven years. He survived a severe crash and fire at the Nurburgring in 1976 and returned to racing within weeks, later founding three airlines and serving as non-executive chairman of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport from 2012 until his death.
