Nick Willis is a New Zealand middle-distance runner, born Nicholas Ian Willis on 25 April 1983 in Lower Hutt near Wellington. He is a specialist in the 1,500 metres and competed at five Olympic Games, in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. He won the silver medal in the 1,500 metres at Beijing in 2008 and the bronze at Rio de Janeiro in 2016, giving him two Olympic medals; he also entered the 800 metres in 2008 but did not start. At the 2012 Games he was chosen to carry the flag of New Zealand at the opening ceremony. Away from the Olympics he won the 1,500 metres at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and took bronze medals at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games and at the 2016 World Indoor Championships. His listed personal best for the distance is 3:29.91, set in 2014.
