Tyrone Curtis Bogues, known as Muggsy Bogues, is an American former basketball player, born on January 9, 1965. At 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m) he is the shortest player ever to play in the National Basketball Association, where he was a point guard for four teams across a 14-season career. He is best known for ten seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, and he also played for the Washington Bullets, the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors. He finished in the top seven in the league in assists in six consecutive seasons from 1989 to 1995 and in the top ten in steals in three of those seasons, and he recorded 146 career double-doubles. He was also a surprisingly effective defender, blocking 39 shots in his NBA career, including one against the 7-foot Patrick Ewing. After his playing career he served as head coach of the Charlotte Sting of the WNBA, a team that no longer exists.
