Maxwell Henry Norman Walker, known as Max, lived from 12 September 1948 to 28 September 2016 and was an Australian sportsman who played both cricket and Australian rules football at a high level. Born in Hobart, he moved to Melbourne in 1967, made his debut in the Victorian Football League that year and played 85 games for Melbourne as a ruckman and defender while studying architecture. He then turned to cricket, where his unorthodox bowling action earned him the nickname Tangles, and he played 34 Tests for Australia, taking 138 wickets, and was part of the squad that reached the 1975 Cricket World Cup final. After retiring he worked as an architect, broadcaster, author and public speaker.
