Martin McNamara was an Irish hurler, born in 1864, who played for the Tipperary senior team. He was a member of the team for just one season, during the 1887 championship, and it was a successful season as he secured an All-Ireland medal that year, which was Tipperary's first All-Ireland title. He is identified here as the Tipperary hurler of the 1880s to tell him apart from other people of the same name.
