Football Codes

Marcos Aoás Corrêa, known throughout football as Marquinhos, is a Brazilian professional footballer born on 14 May 1994 who plays as a centre-back. He captains both the French club Paris Saint-Germain, in Ligue 1, and the Brazil national team. He began his career at Corinthians, won the 2012 Copa Libertadores, and then moved to Roma, where he was a regular in his only season as the club reached the Coppa Italia final. In July 2013 he joined Paris Saint-Germain for a fee reported at 31.4 million euros, one of the highest ever paid for a player under twenty. He played less often after the arrival of his compatriot David Luiz in 2014 and returned to an integral role once Luiz was sold in 2016. He was part of the Paris team that reached the 2020 UEFA Champions League final and became captain after Thiago Silva left in August 2020. For Brazil he made his full debut in 2013, helped the under-21 side win the 2014 Toulon Tournament, won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics and won the 2019 Copa América.
