Mantas Kalnietis

Mantas Kalnietis, born on 6 September 1986, is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player who later became a football executive. At 1.96 metres he played mainly as a point guard and sometimes as a shooting guard. He made his professional debut in February 2006 with Žalgiris Kaunas, his hometown club, and won Lithuanian League titles and Lithuanian Cups there in 2007 and 2008. He went on to play for Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia, Olimpia Milano, ASVEL in France and returned to Žalgiris in 2021. In 2013 he was named Lithuanian Basketball Player of the Year. For the Lithuanian national team he won a bronze medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, played at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and led the team to silver medals at EuroBasket 2013 and 2015. He is now chairman and co-owner of the football club FK Kauno Žalgiris.
