Mahe Drysdale, full name Alexander Mahe Owens Drysdale, is a New Zealand rower born November 19, 1978, in Melbourne, Australia, who won Olympic gold in the men's single sculls at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games after taking bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won five World Rowing Championship gold medals in single sculls, was crowned New Zealand Sportsman of the Year five times at the Halberg Awards, and in 2024 was elected Mayor of Tauranga.
