Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess grandmaster and a five-time World Chess Champion, as well as the reigning World Rapid, World Blitz and FIDE Freestyle Chess champion. He has held the number one position in the FIDE world rankings continuously since July 2011, longer than any other player, and his peak rating of 2882 is the highest ever recorded. He also holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak in elite classical chess, at 125 games.
