Ma Xiaochun

Ma Xiaochun is a Chinese professional Go player born on August 26, 1964, in Shengzhou, Zhejiang province. He began playing Go at age nine, reached 7 dan in 1982 and 9 dan the following year, and became one of the leading Chinese players of his generation. He won the World Amateur Go Championship in 1983 and the Mingren title in 1989, a Chinese national title he went on to defend for thirteen consecutive years, the second longest title reign in the sport's history behind Cho Hunhyun's sixteen Paewang titles. Across his career Ma accumulated 47 domestic titles, 5 continental titles and 6 international titles, including multiple Tianyuan and CCTV Cup championships and wins in the Fujitsu Cup, Samsung Cup and LG Cup.
