Luguelín Santos is a Dominican sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres and the 4 x 400 metre relay. He was born on 12 November 1992 in Bayaguana, in the Monte Plata province of the Dominican Republic, and studied and trained through the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. He first became widely known as a teenager, winning the boys' 400 metres and the boys' medley relay with the Americas team at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore, and he carried the flag for the Dominican Republic at the opening ceremony of those Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he took the silver medal in the men's 400 metres. He competed again in 2016, when he was the Dominican flagbearer at the opening ceremony, and at the 2020 Summer Olympics he won a second Olympic silver as part of the Dominican mixed 4 x 400 metre relay team. His wider record includes a bronze medal in the 400 metres at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, gold medals at the 2015 and 2017 Summer Universiades, and Pan American Games and Central American and Caribbean Games medals.
