Liesel Westermann

Track and Field Disciplines

Lieselotte "Liesel" Westermann-Krieg, born Westermann on 2 November 1944, is a retired German discus thrower. She held the world record in the discus from 5 November 1967 until 12 August 1971, with a break of about two months in 1968. The length of that record period places her among the leading throwers of the late 1960s. She also competed at two Olympic Games, representing Germany on the sport's largest stage, and she is known by both her birth surname and her married name in the record books.
