Liam Abernethy

Liam Abernethy, formally William J. Abernethy, was an Irish hurler who lived from 1929 until his death on 21 October 1980 and played as a right corner-forward for the Cork senior team. He made his first appearance for Cork during the 1951-52 National Hurling League and was a sometimes regular member of the starting fifteen until he left the panel after the 1952 championship, and during that time he won one All-Ireland medal. He is identified here as the Cork forward of the early 1950s to tell him apart from other people of the same name.
