Lev Yashin

Lev Ivanovich Yashin, who lived from 22 October 1929 to 20 March 1990, was a Soviet professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time and as the best goalkeeper in the history of the sport, and he remains the only goalkeeper to win the Ballon d'Or, which he received in 1963. He was known for his athleticism, positioning, commanding presence and acrobatic saves, and he changed the position by organising his whole defence and coming off his line to meet crosses and attackers. He played in three World Cups between 1958 and 1966, won gold at the 1956 Olympic football tournament and the 1960 European Championships, and is credited by FIFA with saving over 150 penalty kicks. His all black kit earned him the nicknames the Black Spider and the Black Panther.
