Racket Sports

Laura Robson, born on 21 January 1994, is a British former professional tennis player. She won the junior Wimbledon title at the age of 14 and twice reached the girls singles final at the Australian Open, in 2009 and 2010. On the senior tour she became the first British woman since 1998 to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament, doing so at the 2012 US Open and the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, and she reached the final in Guangzhou in 2012. She was named WTA Newcomer of the Year for 2012 and rose to a career-high singles ranking of world number 27 in 2013. Partnering Andy Murray in mixed doubles she won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Injuries to her wrist and hip ended her career, and she announced her retirement in May 2022 at the age of 28, later working as a presenter, pundit and tournament director.
