Lamar Odom is an American former professional basketball player, born on November 6, 1979, who played for four teams across a 14-year career in the National Basketball Association. He won back-to-back NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2011. In high school he was Parade national player of the year in 1997, and he played one college season for the University of Rhode Island, earning all-conference honors in the Atlantic 10 before turning professional. The Los Angeles Clippers took him fourth overall in the 1999 NBA draft, and he made the NBA All-Rookie Team the next year. He later played for the Miami Heat, spent seven seasons with the Lakers, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, returned to the Clippers in 2012 and played briefly in Spain in 2014. For the United States national team he won an Olympic bronze medal in 2004 and a gold medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, later renamed the World Cup.
