He held the UFC lightweight title from April 2018 until his retirement in March 2021, the longest reign of any UFC lightweight champion, and was ranked the UFC's number one pound for pound fighter at retirement. A two time world champion in combat sambo before moving to MMA, he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022.
