Kevin Maurice Garnett, born on May 19, 1976 and commonly known as KG, is an American former professional basketball player who played twenty-one seasons in the National Basketball Association. Nicknamed the Big Ticket, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time, known for his intensity, versatility and defensive ability. He was drafted fifth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995, becoming the first player taken directly out of high school in twenty years, and won the league Most Valuable Player Award in 2004. With the Boston Celtics he won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007-08 and the 2008 NBA championship over the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a fifteen-time All-Star, made the All-NBA Team nine times and the All-Defensive Team twelve times, retired in 2016 and entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
