Kelly Jayne Smith is an English former football forward, born on 29 October 1978, who spent three spells with Arsenal in the FA WSL. After moving to the United States she broke records with Seton Hall University and then played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge of the Women's United Soccer Association. She returned to Arsenal for a period that included a 2007 UEFA Women's Cup win, then went back to America on another professional contract with the Boston Breakers in Women's Professional Soccer. Smith earned 117 caps for the England national team after her debut in 1995 and, despite serious injuries, is England's second-highest goalscorer with 46 goals. She also played for Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics. She was renowned for her speed, ball control and quickness as a centre forward, and many who played with and against her consider her one of the greatest players to come out of England.
