Kara Wolters is an American basketball player who played centre at 201 centimetres, born on 15 August 1975 in Natick, Massachusetts. She was part of the United States women's team that won the Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and she is one of a small group of women to have completed basketball's Grand Slam of honours, which also took in an NCAA title with the University of Connecticut in 1995, a FIBA World Cup title in 1998 and a WNBA championship with the Houston Comets in 1999. At Connecticut she was national player of the year in 1997 and finished as the program's all-time leading rebounder and shot blocker. After the ABL and the WNBA with the Comets, Indiana Fever and Sacramento Monarchs she moved into broadcasting and youth camps, and she founded the Kara Kares Foundation to support brain cancer research. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.
