Joe Deane, whose given name is Joseph, is an Irish retired hurler born in 1977 who played club hurling for Killeagh in East Cork and spent 13 years with the Cork senior team, usually at left corner-forward. Diminutive but noted for deadly accuracy in front of goal, he is regarded as one of Cork's greatest and most popular players. After All-Ireland minor and under-21 success he joined the senior panel in 1995, made 117 league and championship appearances before his last game in 2008, and won All-Ireland medals in 1999, 2004 and 2005, five Munster medals and a National League medal. He scored 10 goals and 237 points in 50 championship games, won three All-Stars and a Railway Cup medal with Munster, and retired in 2009.
