Jet Li

Jet Li (Li Lianjie) is a Chinese martial artist, actor and philanthropist, born on 26 April 1963. He began as a competitive wushu athlete, trained at the Beijing Shichahai Sports School, and won multiple national championships with the Beijing Wushu Team between 1974 and 1979 under the coach Wu Bin. He retired from competitive wushu in 1979 and moved into film, where his work helped bring the Shaolin Temple and wushu to a worldwide audience and made him one of the two best known martial arts stars of his generation alongside Jackie Chan. Off screen he founded the One Foundation in 2007, the first private charitable fundraising organization registered in China, and co-founded the Taiji Zen online health program. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in 2010.
