Jérémy Toulalan, born on 10 September 1983, is a French former professional footballer who played mainly as a defensive midfielder and was also used as a central defender. A product of the youth academy of his hometown club Nantes, he made his debut in March 2002, and his performances in the 2004-05 season earned him a UNFP Ligue 1 award and a place in the league Team of the Year. In May 2006 he joined Lyon on a four-year contract and helped the club win back-to-back league titles in 2007 and 2008, and in June 2011 he moved to Málaga. He made his senior debut for France in October 2006 and represented his country at UEFA Euro 2008 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He is best known for his humble demeanor, simple distribution, good technique and effective tackling.
