Jan Gustafsson

Jan Gustafsson is a German chess player, analyst and trainer, born on 25 June 1979 in Hamburg. He became an International Master in 1999 and was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2003. He is one of the strongest German players, finishing second in the German championships of 2004 and 2005, winning the German blitz championship in 2001 and playing for Germany at four Chess Olympiads and in the team that won the 2011 European Team Chess Championship. He co-founded the Chess24.com website and worked as a broadcaster and commentator, has coached the German national team, and was part of the team of Magnus Carlsen for three World Championship matches. He is also a poker player.
