James Barry (hurler)

Hockey Codes

James Barry is an Irish hurler, born in June 1990, who plays for the Tipperary Senior Championship club Upperchurch-Drombane and played for the Tipperary senior hurling team for six seasons, usually lining out in defence as a centre-back and later as a full-back, and he is identified here as the hurler to tell him apart from other people of the same name. He broke onto the club's senior team at fifteen in 2005 and has been an ever-present defender since. At Thurles CBS he captained the side that won the Dr Croke Cup and the Dr Harty Cup in 2009, at University College Cork he won the Fitzgibbon Cup in 2012 and 2013, and with Tipperary he won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 2016 and 2019 and the Munster Senior Hurling Championship in 2015 and 2016.
