Jacob E. Scott III, known as Jake Scott (1945 to 2020), was an American professional football player, a safety and punt returner in the National Football League from 1970 to 1978 with the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins. He played college football at Georgia and was selected by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 1970 draft. He went to the Pro Bowl five consecutive times between 1971 and 1975, was a five-time first or second team All-Pro, recorded 35 interceptions in six seasons as a Dolphin, which remains the franchise record, and added another 14 in three years with the Redskins. He won back-to-back Super Bowl championships in 1972 and 1973 and was the most valuable player of Super Bowl VII. He wore number 13 throughout his career.
